A lack of new talent is creating a skills shortage in some parts of the medical devices industry. New graduates with life sciences degrees are choosing to work in pharmaceuticals rather than medical devices, simply because there are more vacancies in the UK. So, a key challenge for our clients is to find people with industry experience. That helps to explain why around half of the placements we make begin with us calling to make an introduction: our clients know the value of hiring talent when it becomes available rather than waiting until they identify a need.
Some recruitment agencies believe that having some experience in pharmaceuticals qualifies them to recruit for medical devices. Our focus is in recruiting for the medical devices industry.
