A lack of new talent is creating a skills shortage in some parts of the medical devices industry. New graduates with life sciences degrees are choosing to work in pharmaceuticals rather than medical devices, simply because there are more vacancies in the UK. So, a key challenge for our clients is to find people with industry experience. That helps to explain why around half of the placements we make begin with us calling to make an introduction: our clients know the value of hiring talent when it becomes available rather than waiting until they identify a need.
Some recruitment agencies believe that having some experience in pharmaceuticals qualifies them to recruit for medical devices. Our focus is in recruiting for the medical devices industry. We have a team whose sole responsibility is to recruit for this sector, which gives us an advantage through our networks and knowledge of the market.
We find and can provide experienced people for a range of positions from engineering staff through to director level, across all specialist areas.

Otodynamics
Otodynamics specialises in otoacoustic emissions instruments and is acknowledged as the pioneer and leader in this field.
As a specialist medical devices company, Otodynamics wanted to work with a recruitment consultancy that had a proven track record in its market sector.
“Austin Fraser was very well tuned to our needs. They put forward five candidates for a specialist quality assurance position. The three people we interviewed were able to meet the majority of our requirements so we were delighted to have had an embarrassment of riches from which to select and appoint our new team member.”
ArjoHuntleigh
ArjoHuntleigh offers a range of medical devices and equipment to improve the quality care of people with reduced mobility in hospitals and care facilities.
Working in an international marketplace, ArjoHuntleigh required candidates with specialist technical knowledge for a range of engineering positions.
“Austin Fraser found us good quality candidates, they were able to filter effectively and produce a good crop for us to select from. We would do business with them again, and overall found them to be a very good agency. As our relationship progressed they made improvements to the service they provided by listening carefully to our requirements and staying focused.”
TNEI
TNEI is an independent energy consultancy specialising in new energy technologies. In its fast growing and dynamic market place, TNEI needed experienced engineers to manage a diverse range of projects.
"Austin Fraser is more proactive in their dealings with TNEI Services than any other agency we work with. The quality of the candidates is excellent, as Austin Fraser take the time to identify what we are looking for and only supply us with relevant CVs.
We are extremely satisfied with the level of service we receive; Austin Fraser has supplied us with six new recruits since February 2011. We hope to continue working with Austin Fraser for the foreseeable future. They are professional, friendly and extremely efficient."
