Lead Infrastructure Engineer
Location: London/Hybrid
Salary: £75,000-£90,000
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Infrastructure Engineer to manage and optimise our internet infrastructure, ensuring its security, resilience, performance, and scalability. This is a key role that will allow you to apply your expertise in system administration, networking, and automation while driving the technical direction for the infrastructure team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and optimise the organisation's internet infrastructure, including network security, server provisioning, and monitoring.
* Oversee security protocols such as firewalls, NAT, key & password management, and patching procedures to maintain a secure environment.
* Ensure system resilience through the implementation of redundant systems, regular backups, and failover strategies.
* Monitor infrastructure performance, proactively plan for capacity and resource scaling, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
* Provision servers and virtual machines for software instances, ensuring alignment with performance and availability requirements.
* Configure and manage DNS, domain records, SPF, DKIM, and IP networking.
* Maintain and improve the overall infrastructure setup to support business needs and ongoing growth.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in infrastructure engineering or a related field.
* Expertise in DNS, domain records, SPF, DKIM, and IP networking.
* Strong working knowledge of firewalls (ASA & SRX), virtualisation technologies (VMware), and automation scripting (Bash, Python, Javascript).
* Proficient in SAN technologies, Windows Server, Linux system administration, Docker, and Nginx configuration.
* Experience with Cisco switches and configuring enterprise network environments.
* Knowledge of best practices in patching, backup, and disaster recovery.
* Further experience in virtualisation (Xen), Nagios configuration, Windows IIS, Jenkins, GitLab, and Windmill is preferred.
